Students’ Stunning Art Takes On Fracking

United for Action was blown away when we attended the NYC World Savvy Media and Arts Festival on May 16th at the Poet’s Den Gallery in East Harlem.  The theme was “Sustainable Communities” and the students’ ages ranged from 6th through 12th grades.  Various media were presented, from photography to dance, art, poetry and video.  Daniel Carlton, the Program Associate, is truly “savvy” in teaching these students how to present their insights about how their environments impact them, from food to fracking to social risks such as the prison-industrial-complex and environmental injustice.  Some of the fracking art was made into postcards for people to sign and send to Governor Cuomo with a personal message.  Feast your eyes on a sampling of their creations!
