October 6th: Take a Bus to Albany for NY State Assembly Hearing

When: Thursday 10/6/11 at 9:30 am

What: NY State Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee Hearing on the DEC Revised Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SGEIS)

Where: Hamilton Hearing Room B, 2nd Floor, in the Legislative Office Building, Albany

Bus from NYC to Albany: Leaving at 6:00 am from midtown Manhattan at northwest corner of 34th Street & Eighth Avenue.  We’ll be leaving Albany at 4:00 pm.

The NY State DEC’s proposed guidelines on hydraulic fracturing are flawed and does not adequately protect New York City water from contamination and air pollution.  Furthermore, it has no protections for many people living in upstate New York.  This is an important opportunity to make your voice heard.  It is urgent we attend this hearing in large numbers to let our legislature know that the people of New York State want a ban on fracking.  We are working in coalition with several grassroots organizations to mobilize people to testify at the hearing.  Please come and join us.

United for Action and Food and Water Watch have arranged for a bus going from NYC to Albany for the day.  Please click here to sign up for the bus: http://action.foodandwaterwatch.org/p/salsa/event/common/public/index.sjs?event_KEY=71827.

If you wish to testify at the hearing, please click here to fill out and submit the form: http://assembly.state.ny.us/comm/EnCon/20110913/
